To vote in Tennessee, all you need to bring to vote is a valid photo ID. (TCA Code 2-7-112)

The most common form of valid ID is a Tennessee Driver License

Other common forms of acceptable ID are:

1. Tennessee Photo ID Card

2. US Passport

3. US Military Photo ID

4. Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit with Photo

Note that expired ID cards ARE allowed.

What is NOT considered acceptable ID:

1. Student ID cards

2. Any form of ID without photo

3. Temporary paper drivers license

What if you forget your ID?

If you forget your photo ID at the polling place, we recommend you return later if possible WITH your photo ID.

You may vote provisionally without an ID, you will need to see the Poll Officer or Special Judge at the Polling Location for more information about next steps.
